Capote Velho Tinto
Sometimes the best things in life are very simple... a walk on the beach...watching the setting sun or curling up to a warm fireplace reading your new favorite book. This simple non-vintage Tempranillo is a Vinho de Mesa Tinto or Red Table Wine from Portugal and I believe it fits in the same aforementioned category. It has nice aromas of violets, blackberry, and black cherry, with a touch of earthiness. This wine is light to medium bodied, juicy acidity, soft tannins, low food friendly alcohol, with very little to no oak aging, and medium length on the finish. The palate is very fleshy with bright ripe fruit character. You're not gonna get a ton of complexity from this wine just nice pure fruit in a simple package which happens to be a 1 Liter bottle. That's a lot of wine for what you pay for. This is far superior to any jug wine in the same price range that I've tasted from California. If you're looking for value I highly recommend this bottle, a perfect recession red that won't break the bank!!!
